Printing tax forms has certainly changed over the years. The once tried-and-true tools are now going the way of the dinosaur. Thanks to the immeasurable advances in technology and benefits of the long-proven portable document formatting (PDF), dot-matrix printers have outlived their usefulness.
Due to the poor quality of PDF printed to dot-matrix printers, support for printing tax forms – 1099s, W2s, etc – on dot-matrix (impact) printers will be ending after at the end of the month.
Other printers, including laser printers, will not be affected.
